Pregnant Woman Killed by Two Gunmen

Just three months pregnant, a mother-to-be was found unresponsive in her vehicle. The pregnant woman was known all around Englewood for being a great personality, along with the eagerness to be a mother. The pregnant woman was 29 years of age, a well-known hair technician, and was a very talented worker everyone who was related to her or had work done by her knew her as Derricka Patrick.

This pregnant woman was also a fun-loving, family-orientated individual who was, at the time, supposed to be on her way to her cousin’s birthday with her niece but had stopped to get a cake. On Jan. 12, 2022, her 15-year-old niece went into the house to get the party supplies. She heard gunfire outside. When the firing had ceased, she ran out to find Patrick unresponsive in the car after being fatally struck by the bullets.

On the 74 hundred block of South Vincennes Ave, surveillance video indicated that Derricka Patrick was waiting in her parked vehicle around 7 pm when two gunmen pulled up to the side of her car, got out, and proceeded to kill her and her unborn child.

Police officers responded to shot spotters in the area, and when officers arrived on the scene, they found a pregnant woman shot outside her home. She was later taken to the Chicago Medical Center, pronounced dead.

Close friends and family eagerly anticipated the birth of her second child but now are making funeral arrangements and grieving for the broken family. Patrick was the youngest of 5 sisters and a brother and now leaves behind a 9-year-old daughter.

Police have no suspects in custody at the moment and have a cash reward for any information leading to the capture and arrest of the suspects involved.
